the usage of "of"

Hi!

As far as I know when I use "of" , I put something in front of "of" ( a friend of mine, the right of man) but sometimes I see there is nothing in front of " of" as the hightlight. How is this???

You do not need to be loved, not at the cost of yourself. The
single relationship that is truly central and crucial in a life is the
relationship to the self. Of all the people you will know in a lifetime,
you are the only one you will never lose.

Thanks for your reply!

The prepositional modifier has merely been fronted for stress, Lynn. The sentence can legitimately be rearranged as: You are the only one of all the people you will know in a lifetime that you will never lose.
