The usage of "One night"

I've searched on the forum. Lots of people asked about the usuage of "that night" but what about "one night"?

Is it ok to say "On/In/At one night, my mother gave me a new dress."?

Or is it better to simply say "One night, my mother gave me a new dress."

And what if I want to specify that night is happening two year ago? Can I say

"One night two years ago, my mother gave me a new dress."

Thanks a lot for the help...^^
