The usage of "I don't hope so" Thanks

Dear all,

I have a question about if we can say" I don't hope so" because we can say "I don't think so." Actually, I have never heard anyone saying "I don't hope so" to respond to a previous statement. Ot is there any short phrases or statement that could replace the meaning of " I don't hope so?"

Thank you for your answer.
