The usage of because

Hello,

Could you answer the following question for me?

1. I study hard, because I want to pass the exam.

2. I stduy hard because I want to pass the exam.

I remember that if becuase is put in the middle of the sentence, the comma is NOT necessary. Am I right?

Thank you.
