The usage of "as much as"

It often confuses me.

"Listening is as much a persuasive way as speaking"

Do these tow make any difference?

I would appreciate it if anybody could help me out of this.

It seems to me that we can use "as much" in the same way that

we use " as well as".

Very usuful expression.

Thanks a lot
