the usage of "as"

We do not experience information as pure data, be it a byte or a yottabyte, but as filtered and framed through the keyboards, screens, and touchpads of our digital technologies.
In this sentence, the "as filtered and framed through" part seems wierd. we say "experience sth as " , but "experience sth as + verb"? Do native speakers use as like this?
