The usage of appreciate

Hi

Could you help me explain the grammer of the word "appreciate" below the sentence?

Thank you very much.

1. I would appreciate your sending me the information as soon as possible.

My question is why the word " appreciate " is followed by "your sending." Are these two words " your sending" regarded as gerund. Or is there any way to remake the original sentence.
