The pie charts below depict the primary sources of power that people in the United State used to in the years 1980 and 1990.
As is presented in the pie charts, oil was used most ubiquitous in the US over the period shown but the use of oil as the resource decrease after a decade. Natural gas was also quite common only after oil.
A closer look at the graph reveals that oil constituted the substantial percentage of a source of energy in the US held the lion’s share at 42% and drops to 33% in 1990, which was a decrease of 9% but also the most crucial power in the USA a decade from 1980 onwards. Besides, natural gas makes up 26% of the total alternative energy consumed by Americans in 1980 but it shows a decreased progressively trend to 25% in the 90s. Coal as the source of energy was a lower figure than natural gas in 1980 but until 1990 coal overtook and became the second popular energy in the USA.
There are several similarities between hydroelectric power and nuclear power in America that the former accounted for the biggest minority of 5% the later follow a similar pattern in the 80s. Just 10 years later, the percentage of nuclear power witness an upward trend double compare to this energy in 1980 while that of hydroelectric power remained at this level
