The traffic light turns (to) green

Is this sentence correct? --

Wait until the traffic light turns to green.

I found it in a study guide, but it sounds odd to me. I think that in English, you say "the traffic light turns green," not "turns to green." Am I correct?

I can live with the "to" version, but the one without sounds more natural to me.
