The traditional war iconography of ruins

Does "the traditional war iconography of ruins" mean "a traditional iconic image of war ruins"?

Context:

Unapproved Road II (1995) is an example of his seemingly simple photo-based compositions. Two large rectangular stones – one yellow, one grey – lie in the middle of a small, scruffy country lane. There are three round black holes in the yellow stone. The two stones may denote the two sides in the conflict, a permeable border, a broken barrier, and the traditional war iconography of ruins symbolizing conflict’s human cost.
