The time I can say...

The time I can say I am already successful is when I am happy with both my personal and career life.

1. Is the sentence above correct?
2. I was wondering if I should use "was, is, was", respectively because this is unreal at the moment. Would you agree?

Top answer

I don't like the word already in the sentence. The time I can say that I'm successful will be when I'm happy with both my personal life and (my) career. That's how I would re-word it.

Does the 'my' in parenthesis above mean optional?
