The tidy lies that line suburban nests

"His little piece of the plot is fun to watch, but the role is as exhausted as they come: The Crazy-Man Truth-Teller who sees and abhors the tidy lies that line suburban nests."
Help me to undertand the last part of this sentence.
So does it mean that:

tidy:
systematic? orderly?
lies:
deceptions, telling a lie
line: shape

the man who sees and hates the contant lying that shape this suburban life.

"Tidy" is not a very weighty word. "Systematic" and "orderly" are a bit too ponderous. I'd think "neat" would do it.

"Lies" are just "lies."

A "suburban nest" is a home in the suburbs.

My coat has a soft lining. A birds' nest often has a soft lining. The birds find some soft material with which to line it. The soft material lines my coat.

Your suggestion is pretty close but I would not say that "shape" is meant. The "line" the author is talking about is this one.
line2 (lin)
