Grammar

The thought of her

Which are correct:

1) It was my wife's thought that kept me alive.
2) It was the thought of your wife that kept me alive.

3) It was her thought that kept me alive.
4) It was the thought of her that kept me alive.

In all cases, I am the one who is supposed to be doing the thinking.
I have the thought of my wife/her in my mind and that thought keeps me alive.

Gratefully,
Navi.

(2) and (4) are correct, but from your explanation it seems you meant "my" in (2) rather than "your"?

Yes, you are right! It should have been 'my wife'!

It is a good thing that this is just about grammar! If I had made that mistake in a letter...!!!

Thank you very much!

Respectfully,
Navi.
