The Thirteen Roses

Known as "Las Trece Rosas" in Spanish.

If any of you is fond of films based on real facts, you will like this one. It's about thirteen girls condemned to death, most of them underaged. (In Franco's time, you turned to be an adult at the age of 21) Well, it wasn't Franco's time, it was just when Franco won the civil war. When the Second World War was about to start.

You can watch the trailer [url=
and read a bit more about the Thirteen Roses HERE.

I watched the film yesterday, I knew it would be sad but never imagined I would cry that much. Almost everyone cried, it was great![L]

What I have just realised is that the real names of The Thirteen Roses are the ones used in the film and the sentence "Que mi nombre no se borre de la historia", said by Julia, one of girls, was written by the girl in her last letter.
El País“Madre, madrecita, me voy a reunir con mi hermana y papá al otro mundo, pero ten presente que muero por persona honrada. Adiós, madre querida, adiós para siempre. Tu hija que ya jamás te podrá besar ni abrazar… Que no me lloréis. Que mi nombre no se borre de la historia”
I will try to translate it..

"Mother, my little mother, I am going to meet my sister and my father in the other world, but keep in mind that I die for being honest. Goodbye, dear mother, goodbye for ever. Your daughter who will not be able to kiss or hug you any more...don't cry. That my name won't be erased from history."

..I don't know if it makes sense in English but I cried when Julia was writing that letter, those words..Emotion: crying

P.S: Can anyone fix the translation, please?

Your translation is fine from the point of view who don't know Spanish. Your translation almost made me weep. From watching the movie trailer at Youtube, the movie seems good.

I am especially interested the story... I might want to rent it if the movie has English or Chinese subtitle, and if I am not busy now....I guess the movie had the tragic ending which all the girls were being condemned...it
