The Thesis statement

Hello,

I have a question about the thesis statement. Is it improper to use "In this essay, we will examine....."?

for example this is something I came up with for an essay on a novel

"In this essay, we will examine how Anne Tyler created the Dean Family to become a multi-dimensional fountain of depth for her novel, creating them to add the elements of mystery and humour."

Hi,

I have a question about the thesis statement. Is it improper to use "In this essay, we will examine.."? It's usually better not to use 'I' or 'we'.
Just stick to third person.eg 'This essay wiill examine . . . '.

for example this is something I came up with for an essay on a novel
