I would prefer second one. "Come one's way" means "to leave, to make off, to decamp, to get out of" often in offensive way and in imper

To me, "has come a long way since..." doesn't mean the same as "come one's way"
It's more colloquial for "has progressed a lot", but I may be wrong!
