Can one use:
1) Another man to come to our town in 1907 was Dave Jones.
instead of:
2) Another man who came to our town in 1907 was Dave Jones.

Can one use:
3) The blue team was the team to win the game last night.
instead of:
4) The blue team were the team that won the game last night.

I think (3) means they were destined to win the game last night.
But does (1) follow the same logic?
