The summer / this summer

Would you answer my question?

A: Now the summer is over and it's time to get back to work.
(from google)

B: Now this summer is over and it's time to get back to work.
(A's variation)

A sounds more natural to me. But how about B?
What's the difference?

'this summer' is the summer that is coming soon or the summer that we are currently experiencing. If the summer has already passed, as is stated in your sentence by "is over", then we are no longer in this summer. So only A sounds right to my ear.
