I live in the States. Or I live in The States.

I live in USA or I live in the USA.

I live in the United States of America or I live in United States of America.

I live in America.

I live in the United States of America. (formal)

I live in America. (Used a lot to mean "I live in the USA" even though geographically America is a continent. If you live in Peru, you live in America, South America to be exact. Many geographers would say you live in Am

These, without the, are wrong. I say "in the U.S." or "in the United States". I almost never say "of America" at the end, though that's OK if you want to add it.
