Hi

When one lights a match, a sound something like ssshhhh is produced. Could you please tell me how to say that in natural English?

He loved listening to the ____________ of a match each time he lit it.

So are these possible?

He loved listening to the fizz of a match each time he lit one.
The match lit with a deep fizz.
[The collocation I made myself -- sometimes if you light a match during a cold, quiet night, the fizz is really deep, I feel.

I guess "a deep fizz" is not totally impossible, but it does not sound very likely to me.
