The "so" expression

Hi:
I've doing a research paper on the word 'so' for class. Example: wrongful usage of today (I so wish that were there or I so need to sleep.) and the usage of today and yesterday. I've search on the internet and have hit the wall, I was wondering if any of you can direct me to a useful site. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Marie

[nq:1]Hi: I've doing a research paper on the word 'so' for class. [/nq] It's an interesting comparison, but I don't see how "I *so* do not need this to happen" constitutes a "wrongful" use of "so". To me, this seems an expressive and admirably terse usage: it imparts a specific meaning that would otherwise take many, many more words to express.

I don't think "specific" applies to this speech fragment of the valley girl. It's an unfinished "so (adjective) that" phrase. It might work in speech for non-verbal reasons like tone and
