(the) smoke/noise

Hi,
(From my textbook).
A tenant complains about a neighbour who smokes/makes noise. The landlord promises to take action and says (both #1 and #2 are correct according to the textbook):
1. If the smoke/noise still bothers you, please let me know.
1. If the smoke/noise is still there, please let me know.

2. If you are still troubled by smoke/noise, please let me know.

Why did they put the definite article in #1, but not in #2. Is it something about the structure of the sentences? Or is it that #1 means "that smoke/noise" that you complained about and #2 means "if you are still troubled by any smoke/noise"? In that case, would it be correct to also say:
If you are still troubled by the smoke/noise, please let me know.

Juliette1997 (both #1 and #2 are correct according to the textbook): I don't think the second #1 is correct in content. Juliette1997 is it that #1 means "that smoke/noise" that you complained about and #2 means "if you are still troubled by any smoke/noise"? In that case, would it be correct to also say:If you are still troubled by the smoke/noise, please let me know.
