the sky is more blue

the sky is more blue.

is that sentence correct? or should i say "the sky is bluer"?

my friend told me that "more blue" is more common, but i cannot find it in my dictionary.

Bluer is ... well, I'd say "more blue" in most cases unless I was writing a poem.

I guess you can use both, since blue is a monosyllabe. But I must admit that it sounds a bit awkward.

Perhaps it is more colloquial, but, honestly, I'm not sure about it. Anyone else feels like helping us?
