The Singular or Plural Form of the Word, "sport"

Hello. I am working on a text related to women and sport(s?). Could you please tell me which form, singular or plural, should I use when I am referring to sport in general? For example, phrases such as "physical activity and sport" (or sports?). Thanks.

Top answer

I would stick to 'sport' (used as a mass noun), although individual sports can, of course, be pluralised.
