The singluar possesive of County

I'm curious as to whether this is correct grammar for this sentence?

The county’s household recycling centres will be closed during Christmas .

I think it's correct, as to spell it counties would apply to more than one county. Is this what we would call the singular possesive?

thanks

chris.
