The sight of it/The sight of her.

Her ribcage poked out through her pale dirty skin. The sight of it made me feel ill.

(My understanding of the above is that the sight of the ribcage itself made him ill)

Or

Her ribcage poked out through her pale dirty skin. The sight of her made me feel ill.

(Whereas this is the sight of her in general which made him ill)
