The sequence of tenses

I'd like to ask about the sequence of tenses.
Which is grammatical? -a) or b)

a) The Shipper said after they checked that, they would notify me of the result.
b) The shipper said that they will check it and contact us.

In advance, thank you for your help.

If you are asking merely about tenses, it is better not to change word order. All of these are fine: The shippers said they would notify me of the result after they had checked. The shippers said they would notify me of the result after they checked.

Thank you Mr.fivejedjon for your scrupulous answer.

If you don't mind, could I ask why B is fine?

You can ask, but I can't answer. Millions of utterances a day are OK; we don't normally have to justify this.
