The same subordinate clauses?

Hi. Would you say these with the underlined subordinate clauses are basically the same?

Having done that, he had some qualm about what he had done.

After having done that, he had some qualm about what he had done.

Having done that, he went home.

After having done that, he went home.

Anonymous Having done that , he went home. After having done that , he went home. The underlined parts are not clauses as there is no finite verb.

  • I call them clause equivalents but I know that most of the native members of EF use another term - I just can't remember what it is!
  • Anyway, there's no difference in meaning, and there's a third alternative: After doing that, he went home.
