The same car and house?

We have the same car and toy.
Can "the same" refer to car and toy like this?
Or do I have to say
We have the same car and the same toy.

Edit. My example is not the best. "The same" is more than a simple adjective.
You can't say, "We have a same car and toy."
And if you say "We have a similar car

"We have the same car and toy." is grammatically okay, but from a real world point of view this sentence is strange.
If you said something like this, no matter what the context, you'd get some puzzled looks, because it's not a realistic.
If someone is old enough to own a car, he wouldn't have any toys at that point in his life.
