The same as

As you know the adjective 'same' can both mean 'similar' and 'identical'

1)Paul reads the same book as me(Paul is reading exactly my book...not a different one).

2)Paul reads the same book as mine(paul is reading another copy of the book I own,the two books have the same tile adn are written by the same author).

Is this assumption correct?
