The same as

Dear Teachers,

1. The way you smile is like the way my brother does.

2. The way you smile is the same as my brother does.

- Are these 2 sentences grammatical?

#1 feels rather inelegant to me, but I don't see any reason why it's actually ungrammatical. #2 seems structurally faulty.

You might do better with these.

You smile like my brother does.
Your smile is like my brother's.
You smile the same way my brother does.
