The rope became loose

The rope hanging from the roof became loose.

Hi,
I ran across the above from a textbook, and it's a stand-alone example. Does it make sense? If yes, what does it mean? Thanks.

The rope was hanging from the roof. It was held firmly (tightly), then it "became loose", i.e. was no longer held firmly, and could move around, and maybe fall.
If you hold a rope tightly, then loosen your grip, the rope will "become loose". It can move around, and if someone pulls it, it might come out of your hand. If you loosen your grip enough, the rope will fall out.
