The role of the conjunction 'and'

#1-#2 each consists of a clause and a phrase and #3-#5 each consists of two clauses
but among a pronoun, a relative pronouns and the conjunction 'and', there is close connection
,so according to mixtures that we made up with them, we can produce a grammatical or ungrammatical sentence.

1) Each year thousands of books are published, many of them to attract momentary attention only to disappear gradually from the shelves and the minds of readers. (O)
2) Each year thousands of books are published, many of which to attract momentary attention only to disappear gradually from the shelves and the minds of readers (X)
3) Each year thousands of books are published, many of which attract momentary attention only to disappear gradually from the shelves and the minds of readers. (0)
4) Each year thousands of books are published, many of them attract momentary attention only to disappear gradually from the shelves and the minds of readers. (X)
5) Each year thousands of books are published and many of them attract momentary attention only to disappear gradually from the shelves and the minds of readers. (0)

Are my point said in the fist paragraph and guess about which sentences are right and which sentences are wrong right?
