The role of "should"

There is a sentence in the lyrics of the song "How deep is your love" by Bee Gees:
"When they all should let us be, we belong to you and me"
I don't understand what's the role of the verb "should" here. Could I say:
"When they all let us be, we belong to you and me"?
By the way, would you be so kind to explain me with other words different from "let...be" what feel native English speakers when they hear "let us be"? (CalifJim, could you explain that in Spanish?). There is a song "Let it be" by The Beatles... "There will be an answer, let it be"

Not 'explain me', Eladio.

more formally, ------->>> explain to me, the reason for ...

In Spanish, "Let us be" is "Déjanos en paz", possibly "No nos molesta" or "Deja de molestarnos".

Thank all of you for your comments, particularly just the truth for correct me my "sentence": Would you...". I won't forget your point, just the truth.

ClifJim: So, "When they all should let us be" means "Cuando nos dejen en paz". Is that a correct translation? And thank you.

I don't think that translation captures the meaning in the best way, but it's close.

Here's my attempt:

They're breaking us down when they all should let us be.

Nos están [desgastando / minando / aplastando] [cuando / mientras que] todos ellos deberían dejarnos [ser / en paz].
