The role and meaning of "realizing"

In the below website, there a word I want to ask.

My question concerns "realizing."

It seems that a participle "realizing" can be the shortened participle form of "as you realize." But the problem is in the main sentence there aren't any "you" as a subject. I mean the sentence seems to have the problem of "dangling." But the sentence still looks OK to me. Can you give me a help?

Being happy means that you realize that there are times you will be unhappy and recognize that life sometimes stinks. What's uplifting in those times is appreciating life and facing the challenges that come with it, realizing that you're facing challenges fellow humans have also faced.

That doesn't matter. The sentences all around it are filled with "you" and "your" and "you're", both explicit and implicit. It is assumed that the reader can figure out the meaning from context.

Thanks, Voss.

But I still have one more question with your answer.

Then how come the writer didn't put "and" in front of "realizing"?

Am I too fussy for something insignificant?
