The River

The river
knows no shame
The blood
has washed away
We only know
of what happened
from what is said
now
after many years
and after much water
has flowed through
this little town

A swastika
sprayed onto the side
of a school
so carelessly
serves only
to prick the memory
for some
to cause
the blood to flow
once more
and wash away
into the river
