The right word

I need a small help with these sentences:

a)The pooch snoozed comfortably in my ......
b)We watched the waves .... against the pier.
c)She took the lead on the last .... of the race.

I need a word that fits in these sentences but I have no idea what it might be. My initial idea was a word 'lap' but it doesn't make sense in the first example (a). Thanks for your ideas in advanced.
