the right verb for using fireworks

Hello,

What is the verb for fireworks? What should we use when we want to say that someone used a firework. Do we say crack firework? Or burst firework. I guess 'crack' refers more to the crackersso when we use a firework that that does not produce a sound 'bang' but sparkles only then what verb shold we use. And finallt what the right verb for useing fireworks.

Hello Anon

You "let off" or "set off" fireworks in British English. To "let them off", you "light" them.

(Standard instruction on fireworks: "light the blue touchpaper and retire!".)

There may be other verbs in other dialects...
