The right verb?

So I was wondering what is the verb I need to use if I want to say that two people can't keep their sexual urges in check.

This is the sentence >> “I knew you guys couldn’t --- yourselves as long time as it would’ve taken for Sally to spill it out."

The online dictionaries didn't really help. I got about 20 different verbs (e.g. forbear, control, restrain, moderate, curb and temper) and I'm not familiar with their differences.

Thanks in advance Emotion: smile
