The right man's brow

I wonder what 'the right man' in the following quotation really means:

"A new idea is delicate. It can be killed by a sneer or a

yawn; it can be stabbed to death by a quip and worried to

death by a frown on the right man's brow."

By the way, some source says the author of this quotation is Ovid while many others say its author is Charles Brower or Charlie Brower.

Top answer

It means that some people have the influence to do something, while others don't. For example, if I were to say a movie is terrible, only a handful of people would believe me, and it wouldn't make the movie unpopular. On the other hand, if Harry Knowles or Roger Ebert says a movie is terrible, it may very well turn popular opinion against it.
