The repercussion, what does this "the" tell you?

Hello,

“If we implement Mike’s plan, the repercussion will be huge.“

What does this “the” in the repercussion tell you?

Does the speaker use “‘the’ repercussion” because he/she knows what kind of repercussion Mike’s plan causes?
Or does the speaker use “‘the’ repercussion” because he/she just knows it is caused by Mike’s plan? (and he/she does not know what kind of repercussion occurs.)

Thank you in advance.

I'd say you use "the" because it's not any kind of repercussion, it's THE repercussion to Mike's plan. "Repercussion" is defined by "Mike's plan", that's why you need the DEFINITE article here. I don't think it matters whether you know what the plan is or what the repercussion will be.
