The recent UN resolution concerned the situation of women in Africa.

Hello.

The recent UN resolution concerned the situation of women in Africa.

- Is this sentence grammatically correct?
- Does the author put 'the' before 'situation' because he assumes that listeners already know which situation he means? Well, I mean - does this explanation make sense or there might be some other grammatical explanations?
- Is 'recent' unambiguous here and simply means 'happening not a long time ago'? Or can we deduce that this 'UN resolution' might be the last/newest one?
