The reason of why "of" is used here

Just saw a news through the papers as below. Why does the writer use "of" after the verb "left"? Is it a typo? Can i write "what's left in this/ in a disappointing campaign?

Today’s 1-0 defeat at Hull City makes it almost certain that they will be back in the npower Championship next season and manager Tony Mowbray wants to make the most of what’s left OF a disappointing campaign.
