The reason

Hello
I have a question about the expression of the reason.

#1 Yuki was very sleepy that day, because she had stayed up late the night before.

When we explain the reason of something, can I use " as / since / " instead of "because" ? I 'd like to know we can use them interchangeably or not.

Thank you.

If you use "as" in place of because you will give the phrase a more formal connotation. "Because" is more common in spoken English. "Since" is kind of inbetween the two and would be more commonly heard in spoken English.
