Vocabulary

the reader/ the readers

Q) I found the question and answer below on the Internet and wondered why "the readers" and "the reader" are used at the same time?

How would this story be different if it was told only in chronological order as it is in part 3? What do parts 1 and 2 contribute to the details and information provided in part 3?

If the whole story was told in chronological order as it is in part 3 i don’t think the story line would be as strong. The story starts off with the two main charterers reuniting, it showed the readers how strong of a bond they share. Parts 1 and 2 show the readers how strong of a bond the two main characters share which provides the reader with information that helps them understand as of why the story ends the way it does in part 3.

First of all, the English in these sentences is not correct, and this is probably why you're confused to start with. It appears to have been translated from another language, or "cut'n'paste" from other sources. Let me correct it for you, and you might see more sense: How would this story be different if told only in chronological order - as it is in Part 3?

Ah.. Okay. Thank you for rephrasing the original.
By the way, do you think the writer of the original is a native speaker?
One more question is that what do you say to refer to readers in those kind of writing.
The reader thinks that Mark is genius.
The readers think that Mark is genius.

I doubt very much that the original was written by a native speaker.

Both of your sentences are correct. It just depends on whether there is only one reader, or many readers!

Oh, and by the way ... Mark is A genius! You've forgotten the article in both sentences.
