The question of /the questions of

Hi,

This raises the question of whether he is fit for the job and why he is applying for it.

This raises the questions of whether he is fit for the job and why he is applying for it.

Do I have to use "questions of" because there are two questions, or can I just use "the question of" and consider these two questions as one?

Thank you.

BTW, is "the questions of" correct grammar?

You could consider it as all one question, but I think the plural is a better choice. Yes, it is correct grammar in both sentences.
