The question about the A project

Hi guys!

The main problem I meet in English is articles. Here is one of examples which I have doubts about because some people do argue with me about the correct use of them in it.

"The St. Paul's Church was built by the (a) project of Antonio Badini"

I stand for "the" because the sentence tells us about the only possible project of the exact church created by the exact architect. However some scholars of the language say that this is an undetermined project and stand for using "a" article.

Where's the truth, guys? ))

Although there are exceptions,we usually just say eg The St. Paul's Church Natural English is to say that something is built by a person , not built by a project. built by a person here means he was in charge, not that he built it with his own hands.
