The quarterly rent/rental will be ...

I came across this in a dictionary: The quarterly rent/rental will be $ 50,000.

Hi,

I came across the above in a dictionary, and it uses "rental" instead of 'rent."

I'm confused. Is it because "rental" refers to the amount of money paid while rent just means the money paid? Thanks.

No one I know makes that differentiation-- and what in the world is the difference, do you suppose, between 'money paid' and 'amount of money paid'?

Thanks, Mister.

Do you imply that both rent and rental fit in the base sentence? Thanks again in advance.
