I know normally there is no preposition before plural, but I saw this in a paper
"The model with adjustment costs improves the calibrated volatilities of output and labour"

You don't normally put a/an before a plural, because a/an substitutes for one. The isn't necessarily dropped before a plural if it would be there before the singular.
