The public and i or me and the public?

Hello:

I am trying to write a sentence and am stuck on how to phrase it.

Is it correct to say "His courage in sharing his story with me and the public inspired me."?

If that is wrong, is it correct to say "His courage in sharing his story with the public and I inspired me."?
